Jiwon Yun
Hello!
I am a PhD candidate in Sociology at Yale University. Before coming to Yale, I earned the Master of Arts in Sociology and the Bachelor of Arts in Sociology and South Asian Studies at Seoul National University, South Korea.
As a sociologist, I am interested in topics of race and ethnicity, migration, organizational diversity, and intercultural interactions. My projects are driven by the fundamental question: How do people work with each other across racial, ethnic, and cultural boundaries when they have little in common? To answer this question, I look at various social arrangements that make different ideas, cultures and populations come into contact with each other. I employ various qualitative methods, ranging from ethnography and in-depth interviews to archival analysis and visual methods.
